Anish

President

Anish

Anish is a junior in his third year at the Robotics club. He plans to attend college after high school, majoring in computer science. He enjoys math & science in school and is part of other clubs like Science Olympiad & Computer Science Honor Society. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis & working on other programming projects. He hopes to learn and work with the new, growing team. Anish is currently the president and website manager. Previously, he was the Programming Leader, managing an ever-growing group of recruits and teaching them valuable skills like Kotlin and Computer Vision. Last year, he was one of the Excelsior Region's Deans' List Finalists and went to the World Championship.

Arnav

Arnav is a junior on the team and it is his third year with the Jaybots. From robotics, he has learned valuable skills in engineering and physics. He plans to go into the medical field from a reputable school. His current favorite subjects are AP Physics and AP Chemistry. He is a part of other clubs such as Science Olympiad , Computer Science Honor Society, and Math Team. He also learns Hindustani (Indian) Classical music. He joined FTC because he loves robotics and being part of such a dedicated and hardworking team. Arnav applies the values he learns in robotics to all facets of his life. Arnav is currently the Vice President and Build Leader and hopes to have a fun year building, designing, and working with his fellow teammates.

Anaya is a Junior at John Jay Senior High School. This is her third year in the John Jay Robotics Club. She wants to attend college and go into the field of medicine after high school. She enjoys playing the Violin and tennis. She enjoys both math and science and takes part in the Math Honor Society as well as the competitive tennis team. She helps with build and has given herself the team photographer role(most of the pictures/videos you see on this website were 99% likely to be taken by her). She also helps out with the video production as well and wants to expand her communication skills to other FTC Teams as well as other important figures.

Silvia

Silvia is a junior at John Jay High School. This is her third year on the Jaybots. Her plans after High School are to go to college and study in the medical or engineering field. In school, she enjoys math and science classes along with participating in clubs like Science Olympiad. She is also in the Math Honors Society. She is interested in learning and trying new things out. In her free time, she swims competitively, plays the cello, and enjoys exploring the world. She decided to join FTC because she enjoys building things, soldering, and sharing her ideas with others. In robotics, she hopes to learn CAD, make new friends, achieve better leadership skills, and build a robot. Additionally, Silvia is the Treasurer of the club.

James Amodio teaches Regents Physics and PLTW: Principles of Engineering at John Jay High School. While this is only his 5th year in the Wappingers Central School District, he has been an FTC Coach at Blind Brook High School as well as Roosevelt and Riverside High Schools in Yonkers, NY. He has also been coaching several Jr. FLL teams in the Arlington School District for the past 3 years. Mr. Amodio is very excited to be working with such a dedicated team as the JAYBOTS!

CAD Leader

Hiro

Hiroyuki is a sophomore at John Jay High school and this is his second year on the team. Hiro is the CAD Leader and primarily designs and builds the robot while helping the sister team with their designs as well. Hiroyuki plans to go to college after high school in the medical field. Outside of robotics, he learns Karate and attends a Japanese language school. He currently enjoys math and science and is a part of Science Olympiad, Math Honor Society, and Math Team after school. From robotics, Hiro hopes to continue making friends and learn valuable stem and leadership skills.

Pallavi

Pallavi Gangasani (Media Manager), absolutely loves robotics. She is currently a sophomore. On the team, Pallavi is in charge of managing social media, and branding. Outside of robotics, she plays tennis, the violin, is in student government, and debate club! In the future Pallavi hopes to go into the medical field.

Joanna George is in 10th Grade and has been on the team since the middle of Freshman Year. In the Robotics Club, Joanna is an officer and holds two positions: Graphics Team Leader and Fundraising/Sponsorship Manager. She designs promotional material for the club, and fills out forms and grants for sponsorships. She is also in the school’s Debate Club, where she is an officer and is the Student Government Ambassador. She loves to play tennis, play the violin, and play with her dog named Jack. In the future, she plans to go to college, probably majoring in biology.

Areej Omar is a sophomore at John Jay High School. This is her second year on the robotics team. She plans to go to college after high school and major in chemical engineering, robotics or computer science. Before joining this team, she was part of an FLL Explore team (through DCC) and an FLL Challenge team in middle school. She is a 2nd degree Black-Belt in taekwondo and an Acrobatic Gymnast. Her hobbies are painting, drawing, roller-skating, making music, playing the violin and playing outside with her neighbors. She is involved in 3 other clubs in the school: Science Olympiads, Math Team, and Math Honor Society. She joined the John Jay Robotics Club because she wanted to explore her passion for coding, and she wanted to learn many new skills that could help her in the future. She is Documentation Leader, and she’s in charge of the Engineering Notebook. Her goal is to help everyone to feel helpful and welcomed on the team.

Fundraising Manager

Edwin

Edwin Keefer is in 10th grade, who started in the robotics club at the beginning of this season. Edwin is an officer on the Jaybots team, currently holding the position of fundraising manager, previously being the CAD lead for the sister team of Jaybots, Phoenix Robotics. Edwin hopes to apply his previous skills in design and CAD for use in the team and also wherever possible on the position of fundraising manager. He wants to expand his skillset and hopes to learn how to program effectively to hopefully lead into a field that involves a computer science degree. Finally he hopes to have a great next year being on the Jaybots team.

Jason is a junior who is in his second year at the club. He wants to go into Aerospace engineering and is infatuated with computers but is married to his 3d printer right now. He loves to sleep and play games with friends and is very competitive. His favorite class is design and drawing for production, where he learned to CAD. Currently, he is part of the CAD team for the Jaybots but is informally part of the build team.

Joey

Joey is a sophomore and John Jay high school, and his official role of the robotics team is Equipment Manager. However, he also helps out with code and build. Through robotics, he has learned many valuable skills in engineering and code, and has met many amazing people who have helped him learn. Some other clubs that he is in are Science Olympiad, Math Honor Society, Jazz Ensemble, Italian Honor Society, Computer Science Honor Society, and more. Joey can't wait for his future in robotics, and what the season will bring.

Kate is a Senior at John Jay and is in her 3rd year in Robotics. She is the Outreach Coordinator and a member of the Build Team. What Kate enjoys most about Robotics is the opportunities for community outreach and planning such activites with her team. She likes baking, reading, and crocheting in her free time. She is currently working towards her Girl Scout Gold Award which involves informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in STEM. After High School, Kate hopes to become an Aerospace Engineer.

Mark is a sophomore at John Jay Highschool. This is his second year in the robotics club. Currently, Mark is on the build team and he is one of the drivers for the robot, who controls the main arm and the intake. He plans to pursue a career in engineering at college in the future. Mark likes to play sports like tennis and fencing. He enjoys playing video games, running with his dog, biking, and playing the trumpet. He is also in the Math Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and Symphonic Band. Mark is happy to be a part of the Robotics Team and can't wait to see the Jaybots win the competition this year!
