Meet the Team
The extraordinary individuals comprising our high school robotics team form an impassioned cohort of tech-savvy enthusiasts, driving the gears of our team's triumph with unwavering dedication.
Anika
President
Anika is a junior at John Jay High School and is currently in her third year on the Robotics Team. She enjoys robotics and CAD design, where she develops engineering and problem-solving skills. Outside of STEM, Anika is an Indian classical dancer and plays the piano in her free time. She is also a setter on the varsity volleyball team. Anika hopes to pursue a degree in engineering and combine her passion for technology, creativity, and innovation in her future career.
Ava
Vice President
Ava is a senior at John Jay High School and this is her fourth year on the robotics team. She currently serves as the Vice President and has held other creative-based roles in the past, such as: Branding Leader and Creative Director where she managed the engineering portfolio, team banners, and information distribution/script for the teams judging interview. Outside of robotics, she is the president/founder of JJHS Psychology Club "Mind & Method", and enjoys doing other psychology and neuroscience research.
Gianni
CAD Leader
Gianni is a sophomore at John Jay High School and enjoys CAD and building the robot. Outside of robotics he also enjoys watching one piece
Anthony
Code Leader
Anthony is currently a junior at John Jay High School. He enjoys robotics and programming. He is also a member of the Math Team and Science Olympiad. Other than his passion for robotics he is also an athlete, playing on the school varsity tennis team. He hopes to go to college for engineering in the future.
Nate
Build Leader
Nate is a junior at John Jay High School. He enjoys building and designing robots. Outside of robotics he also enjoys playing chess and rock climbing,
Kevin
Creative Director
Kevin is a sophomore at John Jay High School. As the proud owner of an iconic propeller hat, he enjoys doing sports such as rowing and wrestling alongside his typical academics. Outside of robotics, he loves trying new things, such as model rocketry, furniture restoration, graphic design, and homelabbing. He is constantly at work, and he hopes to one day major in Cyber Science at the US Air Force Academy.
Nicole
Outreach Manager
Nicole is a senior at John Jay High School, and has been on the robotics team for two years, and is now the Outreach Coordinator for the Jaybots team. She is a part of are Science Research Club, MHS, CHS, Tri-M, Science Olympiad, Orchestra, and Pit Orchestra. She is eager to contribute and is looking forward to collaborating with the members of the Jaybots team!
Erika
SITCOM
Erika is a junior at John Jay High School, and has been on the robotics team for two years, and is now the Secretary for the Jaybots team. She is also part of the Science Olympiad team and Computer Science Honor Society, fostering her love for science. She is excited to work with the other members of the Jaybots team this year!
Mr. Amodio
Mentor & Coach
James Amodio teaches Regents Physics, Science Research 1, PLTW: Principles of Engineering, PLTW: Civil Engineering & Architecture at John Jay Sr. HIgh School. While this is only his 8th year in the Wappingers Central School District, he has been an FTC Coach at Blind Brook High School as well as Roosevelt and Riverside High Schools in Yonkers, NY. He also coached several Jr. FLL teams in the Arlington School District before COVID, and currently coaches the local FIRST LEGO League Team # 69854 Chocolate Croissants. Mr Amodio reminds his robotics team members to "Keep Being AWESOME!"
Raghav
Webmaster
Raghav is a sophomore at John Jay High School and was a former phoenix member, and is now the webmaster for the Jaybots team. He is also part of the Science Olympiad team and is interested in STEM He is excited to work with the other members of the Jaybots team this year!
